ABOUT ANAS

The Alabama Newspaper Advertising Service (ANAS) exists to help advertisers and agencies place ads in newspapers. As a service of the Alabama Press Association, which has been around since 1871, ANAS has represented Alabama's 124 newspapers since 1951. From this unique position, ANAS offers many programs to assist any advertiser--from placing display ads to distributing press releases to placing your classified ad throughout Alabama or in other states.

Display Advertising
This service is for both advertisers and agencies, ANAS offers a nearly effortless way to place advertising in newspapers. We will:

         º provide advertising estimates
         º send ad materials
         º pull tearsheets
º provide one itemized invoice for the entire order
         º pay the newspapers

All the advertiser does is place one order, receive one invoice and pay with one check.  Additionally, in most cases, our services are free.

Online Advertising

Many APA member newspapers now offer advertising on their Web sites. Contact ANAS with the markets you are interested in, and we can put together rates for adding online to your campaign. Download our rate card to see which papers currently offer online advertising.

Readership Information
We maintain up-to-date information about our newspapers' circulations. Just call to discover how to target a particular demographic or geographic region.

Creative Services
We can help with anything from last-minute type changes to basic graphic design, illustration and copy writing.

Electronic Ad Transfer
When distributing ad materials, ANAS has developed a timely, safe way to transmit ads across the internet. BamaNet is the electronic bulletin board ANAS maintains in our office. We transfer ads to our newspapers via BamaNet, saving you the time and money it costs to print and ship veloxes.

Network Advertising

ANAS now offers 3 network opportunities:

1. 2x2 Retail Network

Our newest statewide buy is now outside of the classified section! You can buy a 2x2 retail display ad to run in Main News, Sports, Lifestyle or Business section for only $1000. Your ad runs one time in 123 newspapers across Alabama. With a readership of over 1 million, that's less than a penny per reader.

2. Ala-SCAN
In 1985, ANAS began the Alabama Statewide Classified Advertising Network (Ala-SCAN) to ease an advertiser's efforts to place classified line ads statewide. Now, Ala-SCAN is one of the most successful classified networks in the country. Almost every Alabama newspaper participates in the network. Total paid circulation of those newspapers is more than 850,000. And the cost to run your ad through Ala-Scan is far lower than the cost to place your ad in all the papers individually. For more information go to www.Ala-SCAN.com.

3. DisCover

Or you may choose the DisCover program--a network allowing advertisers to place small classified display ads. With the same cost-efficiency as with Ala-SCAN, advertisers can use DisCover to place a 1-column by 2-inch or a 2-column by 2-inch, bordered ad with artwork or a company logo. For more information go to www.Ala-SCAN.com.
