Well, it looks like last month’s tips paid off! Just kidding, I won’t take the credit – this was all you guys… September’s Newspaper Display Network featured three weeks of ads sold by newspaper reps!

river-regionThe Decatur Daily sold a 2×2 ad in the North Region for the weeks of 9/11 and 9/18 for their River Clay Fine Arts Festival. This only cost their client $800.00 extra for two weeks of coverage in the entire north region of the state (43 newspapers), and the newspaper got to keep $266.67 of that! Similarly, the Moundville Times sold a 2×4 ad in the Central Region for the week of 9/25 for the Moundville Archaeological Park Native American Festival, which allowed their client to reach into 43 additional newspapers in the central region of the state.

Fall festivals are the perfect prospect for the networks.  I know we’ve all known a client that just “doesn’t need to advertise in the local newspaper” because the community is already so familiar with them.  Luckily, you can offer them coverage outside of the local market, as well! The statewide display and classified networks are here for you to have more options for your clients, and we are so happy to see that our papers are having success selling into them.

If you have a question about how you can sell into the networks, or even if you just want to ask if I think someone would be a good statewide or regional prospect, you can reach out to me any time.  I’m available at 205-871-7737or by email at amy@alabamapress.org.
